Here at living:room, we aim to provide a high quality, value for money home design and architectural service – so we’re always delighted to receive positive feedback:
‘Thank you for coming to our house and giving us some suggestions for our living space.
As you know, we inherited a dark and poorly designed extension from the previous owners of the property and were looking for some ideas as to how we could improve the space. The biggest concern was our dining area, which is in the centre of the downstairs area with no natural light. Your suggestion to move the room which requires the least amount of natural light – the bathroom – was a total surprise and not something we had anticipated at all. But if course, it makes loads of sense, and would also give us the opportunity to have a kitchen/diner which was very appealing to us.
We found the consultation very thorough and interactive. All ideas were considered!
Now, more than ever, people are looking to makeover rather than move on and a service such as this is ideal.’

‘We were impressed with the idea of a Design Consultation with an experienced Architect to give us ideas from our requirements – a new utility room, insulation in the kitchen and the possibility of more flexible living space – at a reasonable cost. We were only beginning to think about improvements we could make and needed guidance to help shape these thoughts into a cohesive plan.
The ideas generated gave us something concrete to work on and think a bit more about what we could achieve. Ultimately it forced us to decide on what we really needed for the next few decades out of our house.
We were delighted with the consultation and felt it was value for money. Any building outlay is significant so it is important to get the design and ideas right, up front. This initial consultation was a starting point to fully developing our own ideas for what we need going into the future. With 3 small children we need to look at the house being able to accommodate them through to adulthood. We want to do one major job that will take us through the next few decades!
For us the service was perfect and “did exactly what it says on the tin”. Angela was polite, easy to talk to and open to our ideas whilst giving us a new perspective on the house. I would certainly recommend living:room to others looking to make the most of their homes.
Mr & Mrs Mangan, Glasnevin – Design Consultation (October 2009)
‘We were in the process of buying a home and before signing contracts wanted to allay our fears about the potential of the house to be extended and renovated to meet our needs. Despite knowing people in the construction business, we weren’t happy with their suggestions and wanted the input of someone with housing design knowledge and experience. I came across the living:room blog whilst searching on-line and, finding it refreshingly lacking in waffle, decided to get in touch!
We were both very happy with the ideas in the 3 options generated from the consultation and as hoped, it has given us great peace of mind in terms of what can be achieved in the future. We would have no hesitation passing on your details to friends who may be in need of a good architect.’
Mr. P. McGillycuddy, Kimmage – Design Consultation (October 2009)
‘Angela presented us with an idea that we would never have thought of ourselves that responded to our original concerns about better use of floor space and maximising natural light. [She] is an excellent listener and spent a long time making sure that she knew our concerns about the current layout of our house.
At one stage we were fixed on a particular idea and she patiently drew plans as quickly as we were speaking in order to show why this or that would or wouldn’t work. She never dismissed any of our outlandish ideas but instead painstakingly talked us through the pros and cons of each idea.
The concept Angela came up with will cost us less than the original extension that we were considering. We would certainly recommend living:room to others – Angela provides a very friendly and efficient service which is tuned to the home owner’s particular needs.’
Mr & Mrs Heaghney, Skerries – Design Consultation (June 2009)
‘By the time Angela called to my house, she had already put in 2 or 3 hours work of groundwork at the local county council offices studying Development Plans and the file of the planning decision for the estate.
Based on her research and working with [the house survey] dimensions, Angela was able to decide what type of work could be carried out on the property.
When I met her a week later, she came armed with the living:room Property Potential Report, presented in a neatly bound folder complete with architect’s [sketch] drawings.
The revelations were astounding, especially what is allowed without planning permission.’
